There are so many things to think about when it comes to organising your wedding, sometimes it’s difficult to know where to start. You may focus so much on favours, table decorations, entertainment, photographer etc. and you will probably spend many hours looking for the perfect dress.

However, have you thought about yourself?

Do you look after your skin, hair and body?

You may already have a great routine in all these areas, which is brilliant, do keep it up. If not, it may be time to think about putting some plans in place. Just think of the money you’ll be spending on your wedding, but the main focus of the day is you! Now, if you have a bad diet, don’t drink plenty of water, don’t have a good facial routine etc. although you will feel the effects within weeks of changing any bad habits, it is definitely best to start months before your wedding to feel the long-term benefits.

Further down we have included a countdown to help you in all areas. (An extract taken from The Wedding Planning Book for the Deviant Bride)

However, do you feel like you need a good kick start?

Well, Sue McKenna of Life Fitness is offering a fantastic Inch Loss Competition in October. Read below to find out more.

The next boot camps are to begin on 30th September at both Eaglescliffe and Hartlepool venues. They will run for the usual 4 weeks with 3 sessions per week, a 28 day nutrition plan and a recipe book. However, this month Life Fitness is running a competition to help motivate everyone and spur them on for the festive season when everyone wants to look their best. The competition is simple. The person who loses the most inches by following the plan wins. They have had Campers lose as much as 18 inches from various points across their body in the past so the competition is tough. If you think you have got what it takes, you’re feeling frustrated about your weight, or you think you are ready to make the changes necessary to get in shape for Christmas (and your wedding) then call, text or email now to book your place on boot camp. Contact Sue 07958466342 or sue@lifefitness.org.uk

The above is a fantastic way to start changing any bad habits, especially if you can’t motivated yourself at home, do give Sue a call.  If you don’t fancy the above but would still like some help, Sue is the lady to speak too.

And to give you a little helping hand, below is a countdown that will have you looking and feeling fantastic.

* If you have more than 12 pounds to lose, start working out 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week. A brisk walk or swimming will help you start.* Look at your food intake, cut out unnecessary fats, start eating a balance diet of fruits, vegetables, protein and carbs. * If you’re not using your regular hairdresser, book one as soon as possible.* Discuss with your hairdresser styles that suit your face, also make them aware of your dress, veil, tiara and hair accessories.* Think about how you want your hair; do you need to grow it a bit longer? What about the colour? Put a plan together with your hairdresser. * Try and drink 8 pints of water a day; you will be surprised how refreshed your skin will become.* Do you have a regular beauty therapist? If not, book a consultation with a local salon. They should make you feel comfortable and be more than willing to talk to you about your needs. They should help you put a plan together.

* Start exfoliating your skin; twice a week should be sufficient. Exfoliating will allow your skin to breathe, leaving it soft and silky.* Do you want to get rid of unwanted hairs through waxing or laser treatment? Check out the process now. Laser treatment can be intense and expensive. Check out beauty salons or cosmetic surgery clinics for more advice. * It’s best to use a good shampoo, conditioner and treatment. Starting early will give your hair the nourishment it may need, allowing it to develop a natural shine. You don’t want your hair looking drab on your wedding day as it will spoil your make-up and your dress. Ask your hairdresser about the best treatments for your hair type and start getting into a regular routine. * Are you worried about your skin? Do you have a lot of trouble with acne, redness or pigmentation? If this is the case, after speaking to your beauty therapist it could be a good idea to book in with a dermatologist.* You also need to start thinking about your teeth. A nice white smile can enhance the rest of your face. Talk to your dentist about the options available to you. There are many different whitening treatments, if you feel you can’t afford a specialist treatment there are whitening home packs available in chemists.

* If you feel your 30 minutes a day is becoming second nature, think about upping the pace. Start working out 3 / 4 times a week, but change the 30 minutes to 1 hour.* Using body lotions and moisturiser will help your whole body feel smooth and sexy. * Remember to get your hair trimmed every 6 weeks; it will look in great condition, ready for your wedding. * If you don’t require help from a dermatologist, it’s around this time you should look at a beauty regime, if you don’t already have one. Cleansing, toning and moisturising twice a day, plus exfoliating with a mask or a scrub once a week. Check with your beauty therapist what type of skin you have, they can help you choose the right creams.

* Make sure you’re getting enough sleep at the 3 month stage. You may find yourself stressing, especially when it comes to sending out invitations and some not being returned! Avoiding alcohol and caffeine will help you get a good night’s sleep. * Start preparing some scrap books of hairstyles that you like, this will help your hairdresser understand what you want. They may ask you to avoid certain styles or they may encourage a style that you like ensuring your dress and make-up are enhanced. * If you started a teeth-whitening treatment, avoid red wine and other dark coloured drinks; they may stain and ruin your look.* Some brides would prefer false nails for their wedding day, however, if you would like your own nails manicured, it’s best to start a regime now; to ensure your nails are strong, decreasing the chance of them snapping on the day. The same goes for pedicures too. Think about your honeymoon; nice toes for sexy sandals.

* If you’re finding yourself stressed, you may find eating big meals difficult. Look at eating little and often, this will also help to keep your energy levels up too. * A hair trial would be sufficient at this time. It will give you chance to play around with a few styles. Take with you any accessories you intend to wear, veil, tiara and jewellery. Try to wear a top that has a similar neckline to your wedding outfit. * If you’re thinking about having a spray tan, book in for a trial and make sure you’re happy with the result.* However, if you’re confident at doing your own fake-tan, start applying now so you can apply every 4 days, building up the colour you want.

* If you’re feeling extra stressed, book in for a relaxing massage, it will help you cope with the last few months. * Treat yourself to an oil treatment, to enhance the shine.* Your last cut before the big day or you could leave until 2 weeks before your wedding day, depending what length you would prefer. * Make-up trial; you need to know the make-up your beauty therapist has in mind. You may require more eye make-up or foundation, so it’s best to have a trial so you can discuss your options, rather than stressing on the day and trying to reapply yourself.

1 week

* If you can’t sleep try a short term sleep medication / if you need medication the night before the wedding try before-hand, some sleep medication can have a tiring effect the next day. Talk to your local health shop / pharmacist. * Refresh your colour. Try not to leave getting your hair cut until this day, it could end up shorter than you imagined. * Treat yourself to a facial from a professional. It will help you feel relaxed. If you haven’t been looking after your skin, be careful or have a facial earlier, as it could release toxins, leaving you with a few blemishes.

THE BIG DAY

Body

Hair

Beauty

* Eat your breakfast, even if it’s a piece of toast, you will need something on your stomach.* Keep some little snacks with you, you will need to keep your energy levels up; you may not be sitting down until late afternoon. * Wear a top that doesn’t need to go over your head; you may ruin the final touches. Wait until your hair and make-up is finished before fitting your dress.* If you’re going to the hairdresser’s, remember all of your accessories, they may not be able to finish your hair if there are pieces missing. * If you’re doing your own make-up, ensure you apply in natural light, as false light will bring out a different effect and you could end up looking orange or too pale.
Remember: Timings are very important if you’re travelling to a hairdresser’s and a beauty salon, think about how many bridesmaids you have if they are all to be treated. Think about travelling time; it may be easier to have a hairdresser and beauty therapist come to you, but you may need to book well in advance.
